Welcome back!
Today I wanted to share the makeup products that I use on a daily basis. I know that many of you already wear makeup, and this blog post may not be of any use. However, if you use makeup or want to start using makeup, but you're not sure if you're missing something or just want to try something different, I wanted to at least put my list out there.
I rarely leave the house without makeup, and these are the products I use everyday.
LET'S GET STARTED
 |
*All the products listed below were purchased with my own money. Many of these products were purchased from Sephora and Walgreens. |
First and foremost, I have combination skin. Most of the skin on my face is dry and sensitive, but I have a lot of spots that tend to get very oily. When it comes to purchasing products, I tend to lean towards the dry/sensitive group if combination is not an option and deal with the oil in other ways. So, if you have all over oily skin, these products may not work for you.
Primer:
After washing, toning and moisturizing my face, I like to apply primer around my nose, under my eyes, on my forehead and under my bottom lip (chin area). I don't use primer every where. I only use primer primer where I need it.... in the oily spots to prevent them from getting oilier and causing my makeup to smudge, and on the dry spots to smooth out any flakiness that make my foundation appear cakey, flaky and/or crusty. If you have dry skin, you know what I mean.
Concealer:
Next, I use a concealer. This concealer stick looks like a lipstick and can be purchased at various drug stores. The first time I used it, I hated it. When you swipe it on, it goes on smooth, but looks chalky. I tried blending it with a concealer brush and with my Beauty Blender, and it didn't work :( Once I put my foundation on, the foundation would dry out and turn cakey/flaky. However, I saw a YouTube video where a girl was raving about it. She used her fingers... Success! After that, I only use my fingers to blend this in and now it is my favorite. If you blend it well and use it with primer, it works wonderful on redness and blemishes. I use it around the corner of my nose, under my eyes and on any red or discolored spots.
Foundation:
After concealing, I put on foundation. I like to use my fingers or my
Beauty Blender to blend. I tried to use drug store make up, but with my skin being quite dry, it all came out very flaky. The dry spots were so pronounced that I preferred going without makeup. I really like this foundation! I don't have that issue with this, especially with primer.
Powder:
Once I'm done blending, I finish it off with bareMinerals as a finishing powder. I sometimes use
MUFE HD MicroFinish Powder, but now that it is summer, I like to use a pigmented powder versus a sheer or translucent powder to provide a tanner look. Also, the bareMinerals provides additional SPF while MUFE does not.
Eye Brows:
Next, I do my brows. I have very fine and small Asian eye brows that are not very defined, so I always fill in my brows. I LOVE this brow pencil. I have used brow powders and pencils from Maybelline, Clinique, SmashBox, and MUFE. Smashbox powder was my previous favorite until I found this. It is much more affordable, can be found in numerous drug stores and super easy to use and the brush on the end actually does a great job at blending out any harsh lines.
Eye Liner:
I go back and forth between the two eye liners listed. It just really depends on my mood, or if I need waterproof or long wearing eye liner. I like to do a small winged looked since I don't typically wear eye shadow unless I'm going out or when I have more time in the morning. Maybelline can be purchased at your local drug store or even grocery store, while Stila will need to be purchased online or at a beauty store, like Ulta or Sephora.
Mascara:
After eye liner, I curl my lashes with a 'heated' (regular curler heated with my blow dryer for 5 seconds) eyelash curler. Then I put on my mascara, top lashes only. I don't like mascara on the bottom since I wear contacts and it tends to get in my contacts that way. I LOVE this mascara. It is the only formula that does not weigh down my lashes. The waterproof formula is actually better, but waterproof mascara has ruined many pairs of contacts for me. So I only wear a waterproof formula when I wear my glasses.
Blush:
Right now I am using a discontinued Stila powder blush. I bought it on sale at Sephora. It's not my favorite, but it works. I used to use Victoria's Secret, which was perfect for me, but they changed their makeup line and no longer sell it. I don't like to go out without blush. After putting on all that foundation and powder, there is no color left on my face, so blush and/or bronzer help bring that color back.
So that's it!
That is my daily makeup bag. I also carry around chapstick and lip gloss every where I go. When we travel or do our quarterly road trip down to Miami, we try not too pack too heavy, but this is my go-to list of "cannot leave behind" make up products. I have a separate makeup bag for my makeup, a separate bag for my skin care products, and a 3rd bag for my hair care products (not including my blow dryer and straightener).
If you're interested in my skin care products or hair products, please leave a comment below, and I may do another post! If I get enough requests, I may even do a video. ^_^
