As some of you know, I have been living in Florida, 30 minutes west of Cocoa Beach for the last year and a half. It has been amazing, coming from the dry climate and high altitude of Colorado Springs. With it being summer, with plans of a 4th of July Beach day tomorrow, I wanted to do a nail inspired by Florida.
On top of that, I just recently purchased the Salon Express Nail Art Stamping Kit, so this was the perfect time to incorporate the two. How better to represent Florida than a palm tree?! Love it!
Hope you enjoy!

Love the look! I'm gonna have to try this one out. I still haven't tried gradient polish yet. I have stamping plates and I'm sure I have a palm somewhere. And this would be another excuse to buy more polish! Thanks for enabling me! LOL of course I can't wear this look to work so I'll have to try during a long summer weekend! Can't wait! Oh btw I wanted to ask, are those your natural nails you paint on or do you have acrylic or gel overlay on them? They look so good!
ReplyDeleteTFS!

Hi Jamie, thanks for reading!! Thank you for all the compliments! Love giving people new ideas. In fact, I just helped my 12 year old cousin do this pattern last night while I filmed a new one to post sometime today. Anyway... long story short, my nails are natural except for maybe 1/4 of the nail, the tip area. I have old acrylic that I'm growing out and it's almost gone. 3 of the 10 are cimpletely natural as the acrylic has come off. I do a pretty extensive clean and prep before each nail deisgn. I would hate to do tutorials having ugly nails. By the way, I use a lot inexpensive nail polish since I do designs every 3-5 days so no splitting necessary to do these!

Oops. Completely, not cimpletley and splurging, not splitting.
DeleteThanks for responding! I'm just about to watch the new vid that you uploaded. I wanted to ask, do you have any suggestions on shrinkage? I seem to get it worsse with some brands then others. And it really bugs me! And like you, I too am a perfectionist, so I tend to have to change it often when I wear those certain brands!
DeleteAnyhow, keep the vids coming! I love watching!

Hi Jamie, what do you mean by shrinkage? I'm not sure I've ever had an issue of shrinkage. The only thing I've really experienced is that the cheaper polishes start to get clumpy towards the bottom which makes it near impossible to paint or marble with.
DeleteHi Erica, shrinkage is when the polish starts to pull away from the tip. It makes it look like you have tip wear but it's not. And tip wear isn't as bad as shrinkage can get. Depending on the brand, it usually happens as soon as a few hours to over night. Since I polish at night I notice it in the morning. And all I do I sleep so I know its not tip wear! LOL I would insert a picture to show you what I mean but I don't have that option to do so.
DeleteAnyhow it can be the brands that I'm using also. I'll have to research and try some different things.
Thanks and I hope you had a good weekend!

I see what you mean... I do get that on the cheaper polishes, but ever since I started using Seche Vite dry fast top coat, I haven't had that problem since. Also, a good base coat has also helped that. I never paint my nails without a base or top coat anymore. If you want to share a picture, post it on my Facebook page or Twitter, I'm on there all the time!

That's the same top coat I use and I use Orly bonder base coat. The polish that has the worst shrinkage is the Zoya brand. So they're all good polishes. I just need to find the right combo I guess.
DeleteUnfortunately I don't do Facebook or Twitter. =o)

No problem! You can always follow the blog. I tend to put more on here than I do in my videos.
DeleteI haven't tried Zoya, but now you've peaked my curiosity. Ill have to try it and let you know. Do you let each layer of polish dry completely before applying your top coat? That's the only thing I can think of.
Hi,
DeleteYes I do let them dry completed between each layer. I tend to be a perfectionist and I clean up after each nail and make sure that the polish has a nice clean curved line around my cuticle! LOL I've been using am old angled make up brush and its working really well! Anyhow, so by the time I get back to the first nail it's dried! LOL
Well Im going to research different combos and if I come up with something i'll let you know!
Have a good weekend!
